Co-Lab is a creative co-working space where people can collaborate and connect with others. It’s a space for those who are seeking to be inspired and build relationships.
The space is based on a credits and light shifting system. To summarize Co-Lab, there are four main touch-points that creates a socially engaging and creative environment, which are the Co-Lab Stations, Co-Lab Kiosks, Co-Lightings and Co-Credit.
Problem
To better understand users in co-working spaces, we visited two different locations and interviewed people about what they wished their ideal space included. Beyond functional needs, we also asked whether they saw the potential for building a community or network within the space.

DESIGN PRINCIPLE AND GOALS
The future of creative work is heading
towards co-working spaces.
Creative co-working spaces should be
collaborative and socially engaging.
Co-Lab is a creative co-working space that
brings people together through creativity
and collaboration.
CONCEPT How can we bring people together when they are in CO-LAB?
We created a light-shift system to provide subtle, ambient notifications throughout the space. Each lab was assigned a specific color. When an event is happening, all the labs shift their lighting to match the color of the lab where the event is taking place, gently drawing attention to that location without disrupting the environment.
